Is This a Scam? How to Tell in Ten Seconds

Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at 1:00 PM ET

Online via Zoom

GOLD helps adults 50+ build the confidence to handle everyday technology on their own terms. Scam texts, emails, and calls are getting harder to tell apart from the real thing, and the pressure to act fast is the whole trick. We will walk through GOLD's S.C.A.M. framework, Stop, Confirm, Avoid giving out personal information, and Make a Report, and practice it on real messages so you have a habit to fall back on instead of a guess.

What you'll learn

  • What a real message from your bank, doctor, or the government actually looks like
  • The four-step habit that stops a scam before it costs you
  • What to do when you think you already responded to one

What to bring

A device with internet access (phone, tablet, or computer). Headphones if you have them. Curiosity.
