FAQ
What is Growing Older Living Digitally (GOLD)?
GOLD is a North Carolina 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides free digital literacy classes for adults 50 and older. We teach older adults how to use patient portals like MyChart, protect themselves from online scams, and understand AI tools — replacing fear and frustration with real confidence. We serve communities in-person across North Carolina and virtually nationwide.
Why do older adults need digital literacy education?
As healthcare, banking, and everyday services move online, millions of older adults are being left behind. Access doesn't equal ability. Without patient support and hands-on education, digital systems become barriers to healthcare, financial safety, and daily independence. GOLD bridges that gap so older adults can manage their health and lives with confidence — not confusion.
